Hi... another quickie ( hopefully ) !

I am currently running Vista HP on an Acer m1640 .. it is an OEM machine which means that Vista was already installed on

the 320 gb hard drive ...

The Hard drive is partitioned C - System D  - Data - and the hidden partition ~ E ~

 on which Acer have put the Vista HP system files  ( for reinstall  )

~~~~~~~~~~~
Now , I really would not like to overwrite the C System Partition , however I have a load of space on the "D Drive"  ~ which , upon
examination has very minimal usage ..
So, I would like to put W7 RC on that ... and use Dual Boot , so that I can keep my Vista HP without having
to go the way of the complete install ..
Oh, nearly forgot :  I use Acronis True Image and have a full back up (taken yesterday ) on my External HD  ~  Can I use
that to reinstall Vista HP if I have to do a full clean install ?
 Possible or not ?
Move whatever you want to keep from the D drive to the C Drive or a DVD or flash drive and install W7 on the D Drive. Then move it back if you want to.
After you install W7, when you boot up you will get a screen where you can choose Vista or Win7. Simple enough?
Echoing above - yes.  I am more or less doing the same thing today (and I too use Acronis True Image 2009).  Only difference is I have XP, Vista, and W7 build 7100 running on three separate hard drives, with the boot manager on Windows 7drive loading the boot menu.  Separate partition on the Vista drive for data, and another one for images of the three OS on the Windows 7 partition.  They all get along quite nicely......
Main reason for three OSs is to have more games installed of course!
An Update for y'all ;
I used imgburn to make the prog disc ... and put W7 Ultimate on my D Drive ...
Time taken to do that was a nifty 23 minutes  ..
First Thoughts ... ( yet to install my other progs ..)
Fast , Whizzy , great UI .. Love the built in themes  ... Like the new look , ya da yada !
I think I'm going to like this a lot ... The 'Action Center" is a doozy !! Love It !
Only Gripe is that it comes with IE8 ... which I don't like .. , to me its very messy ....
Therefore , One question ... Is it safe to uninstall IE8 and go back to IE7 ...  ?
My guess is that even if you ccould uninstall IE8, it wouldn't be a good idea because it's so much a part of the OS.
I'd just install IE7 and use that instead.
